Summer Events in Crested Butte
Beyond the amazing scenery and outdoor activities that abound in the Crested Butte / Gunnison area, there are a multitude of events all summer long. From the popular Wildflower Festival to the quirky Fat Tire Bike Week, a vas tarray of entertainment awaits all tastes.
Some of the most popular events are:
June:
Wildflower Rush and Fat Tire Bike Week highlight Crested Butte’s legendary single track and mountain biking in the area.
July:
The Fourth of July Celebration in downtown Gunnison and Crested Butte have everything from a parade to children’s street games.
The Crested Butte Wildflower Festival includes workshops and hikes to focus on the amazing wildflowers in the Wildflower Capital of Colorado.
Cattleman’s Days, a rodeo and ranching celebration in Gunnison.
The Crested Butte Art’s Festival brings national artist and craftsman to Elk Avenue in Crested Butte.
August:
The Wild Mushroom Festival is a fun foray for fungal fanatics (say that 3 times fast...).
September:
During Labor Day Weekend the People’s Fair in downtown Crested Butte highlights local artists.
September Splendor is a month long celebration of the local aspen foliage.

Below is a sampling of some of the "locals' favorite activities" that take place every week during the summer. And many of them are free!
Sundays
Head to Sundays @ 7, a free Summer Concert Series in Gunnison. Held at the gazebo in Jorgensen Park (along Highway 50), concertgoers can enjoy a family atmosphere, summer evenings and music by local and visiting musicians. Concerts are every Sunday, June 3 to August 5, 2007.
Mondays
Free Alpenglow Concerts outside at the Center for the Arts in downtown Crested Butte. You'll see the Center for the Arts building / outdoor theatre on the right hand side when you come into town from Hwy 135. Bring your blanket, pack a picnic basket and enjoy these free outdoor concerts. Concerts start at 5:30 on Mondays from June 25 to August 6. Great for all ages, with the town playground adjacent to the outdoor concert.
Tuesdays
Catch a softball game, one of the locals’ favorite summertime activities. Softball games take place at the fields in downtown Crested Butte.
Games are every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday night, starting at 5pm.
Wednesdays
On Wednesday evenings during July and August, the Public Policy Forum hosts a guest speaker that ties into the theme “Foreign and Domestic Policy: It’s Effect on Every American’s Life."
Presentations begin at the Crested Butte Community School at 7 p.m., with $5 admission collected at the door.

Thursdays
A regional recreational mountain bike racing series the Powerade Pinnacle is geared for fun and competition for beginner to expert riders. The races consist of varying lengths and difficulty to challenge riders of all abilities on Mt. Crested Butte's network of trails and quality single-track.
Races start at 5:45 on July 12, July 19, July 26, Aug 2, and Aug 9, 2007.
Fridays
Friday’s are a great time to stroll Elk Avenue in downtown Crested Butte and visit one of the great outdoor eating establishments and take in some live music. Enjoy a cold one on the new deck at The Brick Oven!
Saturdays
Enjoy the fresh produce of the surrounding areas. Visit the Gunnison Farmer’s Market in Gunnison in Jorgenson Park.
