Concert Schedule

July 2
WhiteWater Ramble

WhiteWater Ramble's high-octane DanceGrass/Jamgrass is deeply rooted in bluegrass, funk, jazz, swing, rock, reggae, country and blues while exploring the musical boundaries of these genres. The quintet's makeup of mandolin, acoustic guitar, fiddle, upright bass, vocals and drums fuel it's tightly improvised material. As much as the band creates its own style, the style creates itself. The music is dependent on the moment, honest, and respectful to the road behind.

The Lucky Bucks

Hailing from Nashville, TN, the Lucky Bucks are going to bring us some of the best in new Country. The band’s line-up includes brothers, Andy Thompson on lead guitar, and Matt Thompson playing bass and drums, and longtime friend Jay Clemeniti on acoustic guitar and vocals. The Bucks recently played for both Warner Brothers and SONY, and their unique blend of harmonies and instrumentation prompted record deals from both companies on the spot. The boys have been busy writing songs in preparation for their debut album due out sometime next year.

Nina Storey

Nina Storey's musical style incorporates blues, funk, alternative rock, jazz, soul and pop. Her powerful, yet sultry vocals have recently been described as “half Janis and half Alanis, and whose arresting delivery is three parts Virgin Mary and one part Dirty Harry...". Nina describes her new album, “So Many Ways from me to you" as 21st Century Soul — mashing Old-School Soul with an Indie Singer/Songwriter edge.

FEAST

FEAST is an instrumental Celtic band that is pushing the frontiers of excitement in Irish music. With the unusual combination of fiddle, cello, keyboard and drum set, they deliver a rocking show that connects deeply to their audiences. Their powerful, emotionally driven performances have been greeted with wild enthusiasm and standing ovations.

FEAST offers a program of delightful variety: brilliant and virtuoso group numbers are interspersed with soulful duos, solos, and trios. The emotional palette ranges from haunting versions of “Star of the County Down”, to humorous versions of timeless songs, and all-out rockin’ interpretations of hot Irish fiddle tunes. The result: a stunning and unforgettable musical banquet. FEAST completed their first European tour in January 2008, with concerts in Germany. Fall of 2008 will see them performing in Germany, Switzerland, and Holland, as well as managing a busy schedule in the States.

August 13
Hot Buttered Rum

Often described as a rock band playing bluegrass instruments, Hot Buttered Rum melds blues, folk, bluegrass, jazz, and rock, and the members’ varying degrees of classical training lead them to invest heavily in group composition. The widespread appeal of HBR’s music stems not only from the band’s musical versatility and prolific songwriting, but also from the magnetic chemistry the group creates onstage together. It is this chemistry that is propelling the band to even greater success, and the band’s recent release, Live in the Northeast, was recently nominated for the "Best Live Album of the Year" Jammy award.

August 20
Papa Grows Funk

Papa Grows Funk will be joining us all the way from New Orleans to close out the season. PGF’s grooves re-define the funk-jam band, and the band has been heavily influenced by The Meters, Dr. John and The Neville Brothers, PGF parcels it out New Orleans-style, paying homage to the tradition of sparse but rhythmic style offset by blazing guitar. One is treated to a booty shaking set of Mardi Gras funk, original material, improvised jams and fresh interpretations of New Orleans classics.
